The Shopper Insights Manager will partner with CCD and help build a world-class Shopper Insights team that generates actionable insights that help drive business-building solutions by:

• Partnering with CCD on top-to-tops and key meetings
• Developing the Shopper Insights team’s capabilities and tools
• Setting and establishing a high standard of excellence
• Staying on top of the trends and developments in the Shopper Insight field and adopting those that will have the greatest impact
• Identifying insight gaps and finding/delivering efficient solutions.
They will manage Shopper research and insight generation in support of the National Chain sales organization (CCD). They will ensure that an understanding of the Shopper is disseminated throughout NAR. They will build bridges to other disciplines, particularly the Customer Marketing team, and work closely with other insights teams (e.g., DBI, Global, etc.) to enhance and strengthen B-F’s overall insight capabilities. And they will closely partner with others within Consumer and Retail Intelligence group to become a best-in-class insights team and to develop cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Build a World-Class Shopper Insights Team as Part of the Larger Insights Team

• Continually seek out how innovative Shopper Insights practices/tools, and adopt those that enable the team to provide more actionable insights
• Keep the organization on the forefront of how shopper behaviors within the wine and spirits category are changing due to the evolving digital landscape
• Identify tool, capability, and talent gaps
• Help team to grow to meet new and current opportunities
• Ensure that conference/share group learnings become stepping-stones to bettering the team and its output.
• Determine, propose, and sell-in a plan for how to fill any gaps.
• Partner closely with others in the NAR insights team to build a positive, constructive environment where we all drive towards insights excellence.
• Develop collaborative partnerships with other B-F insights teams in DBI and global.

Manage Shopper Research and Insight Generation to Support National Chain Sales Organization

• Partner with CCD on top-to-tops and key meetings
• Understand shopper behavior, motivations and decision process and how that interacts with Channel dynamics and specific customer objectives.
• Partner with Channel directors and Customer Marketers to identify needs.
• Help team prioritize work and manage work load, while also rolling up one’s sleeves and doing what needs to get done, specifically handling the Liquor and Convenience channel.
• Create a roster of trusted, efficient and effective suppliers.
• Establish and set a standard of excellence for team and suppliers.
• Handle the work overflow and be directly responsible for the Liquor and Convenience channel
Develop “Proactive” Initiatives that Benefit Multiple Stakeholders.

• Scan the organization and internal and external customers for insight needs/questions that can be translated into initiatives that are either delivered by the Shopper Insights team.
• Lead these initiatives to successful completion
• Create collaborative partnerships within and beyond the organization that help to enrich findings/output.
• Develop go-to-market plans amongst internal audiences for how to socialize these initiatives
Champion Growing the Insights Team’s Ability to Create Actionable Insights.

• Seek out and identify innovation opportunities (e.g., new tools, capabilities, practices, etc.), bring these ideas forward, and then help implement agreed-upon ones.
• Constructively and openly bring issues/barriers to the forefront and help solve them.

Qualifications
• A Bachelors Degree
• 10+ years of Shopper Marketing, Shopper Insights, Research experience: most recently, at least 7 of those years in a well-established Shopper Insights team
• Proven track record of conducting primary research, managing suppliers, and translating data, research, and trends into actionable insights: capable of understanding various methodologies and data sources and their appropriateness for applying to a particular business issue.
• Ability to assess talent and help them develop, providing a positive, challenging environment that encourages team members to stretch.
• A positive, ideas person, and continuous learner who is looking for new possibilities; a self-starter who will go looking for relevant questions to be answered
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills, who can provide outstanding examples of their power-point presentations.
• Ability to manage through ambiguity, set priorities, and balance competing demands for time.
• Highly self-aware and able to quickly internalize feedback and course-correct
• Team player who can appreciate and use inputs from others, someone who knows when to push and when to relax, who seeks out non-confirming opinions and input.
• Ability to collaborate and build bridges and relationships within and across disciplines.
• Fluency in English.
