Position Summary:

The Wine Club Manager will oversee the management of Mumm Napa and Kenwood’s wine club as well as the execution e-commerce, inbound and outbound phone sales. The Manager will uphold the integrity of each brand and deliver upon the desires of club members by being authentic at all times and delivering exceptional customer service. This position reports to the Director of Retail.

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

Wine Club Management

Assists with the development and execution of the annual and long-term wine club plan while analyzing performance against KPI’s
In conjunction with Director of Retail:
Manages performance reports detailing wine club activity (memberships, new enrollments, cancellations, and sales results). Manages the annual budget and allocation planning for wine club and E-commerce
Responsible for wine club planning, club-exclusive benefits, club event planning, order execution and fulfillment including long-term plans for wine club shipments and written material, coordination with Warehouse and shippers
Continually refine and enhance customer loyalty programs to ensure they are as effective as possible in meeting customer needs, enhancing the brands, and driving sales.
Develops vibrant event programming to engage current club membership and attract new members
Develop and implement compelling Wine Club merchandise offers for each shipment
Develop effective membership retention programs.
Oversees and is a subject matter expert on the club processing and all sales transactions in the POS system.
Maintain consistent customer service messaging within the Visitor Center and Wine Club
Maintain current direct shipping laws for each state and alter wine club marketing tactics as appropriate
Ensures the timely and efficient execution of Wine Club shipments
Working with the Visitor Center Manager, implement cross functional staffing module
As Wine Club ambassador, attends Wine Club events.

Personnel Management:

Addresses and appraises performance, identifies development opportunities and acts as a coach/mentor when required.
Leads team to meet or exceed sales goals based on annual budget
Takes an active role with the staff and the team in the tasting room to build employee unity, being a positive example for customer experience and to evaluate retail employee customer service
Coordinates the cross training of department staff with Visitor Center systems and functions
Ensures the processing of timecards for non-exempt staff members and the calculation of monthly wine club sign up incentives and timely submission to HR
Responsible for the staffing and development of direct reports
Process annual evaluations
Develop ongoing incentive programs for direct sales team
Develop and participate in ongoing training

Cross-Functional Alignment

Aligns annual and long-term club plan with product allocation needs for club members; ensures adequate stock levels in time for club shipments and reorders.
Partners with the Visitor Center to enhance member experience during winery visits.
Communicates with team on wine club details, special offers, etc. to ensure full awareness and appropriate training amongst the support staff.
Promotes and tracks Visitor Center enrollments, processes monthly incentives for staff, and works with Visitor Center staff to communicate the features and benefits of wine club membership


Performs all related duties as assigned

Nature & Scope:

Position works under the direction of the Director of Retail; and closely with the Visitor Center Manager. The position is based at Mumm Napa with once per week spent at Kenwood vineyards winery location. Typically works with multiple members of Mumm Napa & Kenwood winery including, but not limited to, Winemaking, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Human Resources. Communication can include sensitive information requiring complete confidentiality and discretion in dealings and contacts. Decisions impact the group and organization as a whole.

Key Competencies:


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in experience and training preferred. College-level marketing courses, wine courses or other relevant training, a plus.

Experience / Background:

Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the luxury wine industry with emphasis on exceptional guest service and direct to consumer sales
Minimum 3-5 years management experience

Required Skills/Competencies:

Good fiscal management skills and good understanding of P&L accountability
Order processing and fulfillment experience with winery POS systems
Exceptional oral and written interpersonal communication skills
Ability to function independently and make empowered decisions that positively affect the customer’s experience
Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and customer service skills
Strong attention to detail
Must be a team player - able to encourage and cooperate with team members
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint, Access, Outlook); prior experience with database management systems and POS
